Task force submits report to Governor Poudel

Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Dr. Dipu Moni on Wednesday met the banking sector reform suggestion task force. The report has been submitted to Bishwanath Poudel.

With the aim of presenting suggestions for overall improvement and strengthening of the banking sector. The task force was formed under the coordination of Rewat Bahadur Karki.

Bhuwan Kumar Dahal, former president of Nepal Bankers’ Association, and Guru Prasad Poudel, executive director of Nepal Rastra Bank, Bank and Financial Institutions Regulation Department, were the member-secretaries of the taskforce. it was submitted. The final report was submitted today. Based on this suggestion, The Nepal Rastra Bank has formulated the monetary policy.

The task force was asked to study the development of flexible but prudent banking policy regulation, risk-based effective supervision and customer-friendly banking services.

Similarly, it was asked to study the role to be played by the banking sector in making economic activities fully operational, about the steps to be taken to make credit flow effective in rural areas, about the merger and acquisition of banks and financial institutions and suggestions for identifying and resolving the problems after the work.

Similarly, it was asked to study the role to be played by the banking sector in removing Nepal from the grey list and the coordinating role of the central bank in the development of the capital market.
