Consumer Protection Department takes action against two business firms

Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has taken action against two business firms after they were found to be manipulating and relabeling in quality, quantity, price and measurement. The Department has imposed a fine of Rs 300,000 on Shriram Tobacco Industries Pvt Ltd.

Similarly, SVL Professional Pvt Ltd has been fined Rs 205,000. According to the Department, action has been taken after it was found that the sale was distributed without keeping the maximum retail price.

According to the details provided by the Department, seven firms have been directed to appear before the department with necessary documents. Similarly, five firms in Kathmandu and Lalitpur have been directed to appear before it within three days with business-related documents.

According to the Department, necessary instructions and action have been taken in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 and Consumer Protection Regulations, 2076 BS. The Department has also brought nine similar firms under the purview of action on July 9 and 30. Some have been given general instructions and some have been asked to come with documents.

Similarly, necessary action has been taken after monitoring nine firms on July 29, five on July 16, 16 on July 16 and 11 on July 15.
