Myagdi. Myagdi: The construction of Ravan Park at Beni Municipality-5 in Myagdi has reached the final stage.
‘Pachhai’, which was used by the sage muni to earn knowledge by doing penance in ancient times, is located on the hill north-west of the district headquarters Beni Bazar. The 21-feet tall statue of Ravana has completed all the work except keeping 10 heads, clothes and cleaning.
Beni Municipality Mayor Surat KC said that the contract has been extended with the goal of completing the Ravan Park in September.
“The park, built on an area of four ropanis, has been constructed with fencing, entrance, trekking route, laying slate, planting saplings and constructing structures,” he said, adding, “The rishi muni temple, havan kund, the place where ravana’s navel is buried have been preserved and the statue of Ravana along with garden, resting place, fencing and land conservation have been constructed.” ’
Under the Tourism Infrastructure and Tourism Produce Development Partnership Program of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the park was constructed with the statue of Ravana from the fiscal year 2076/77 BS with 70 percent cost sharing of the Ministry and 30 percent of the cost of Beni Municipality.
Mayor KC said the construction work was halted for 44 months as the municipality failed to submit regular reports to the ministry and the budget management could not be done in the fiscal year 2079/80 and fiscal year 2080/81 BS.
The construction of Ravan Park, which was contracted by Dharma S Kasyap JV for Rs 17.6 million in February 2077 BS with a target of completing it in two years, had gained momentum since Last February. Beni-5 ward chair Govinda Baniya said that the construction work, which was stalled since June 2078 BS, has been brought back to the final stage after managing the budget after a long time and many efforts.
According to him, ravana was born after the tapobhoomi of Pulya Rishi, the character of the Hindu scripture Ramayana, and the rock kept in the place where his navel was buried is still safe. Stating that Pulah Ashram is spread over an area of 14 ropanis, he expressed the belief that tourism would be promoted if the park was completed and brought into operation.
Located at an altitude of 2,000 meters above sea level, most of the geography of the district including Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna glacier, sunrise and Beni located at the confluence of Myagdi and Kaligandaki rivers can be seen from behind the construction site.
It is believed that Pulah, Kapil and Jadbharat Rishi attained perfection by doing penance here. In the fifth chapter of The Ramayana, It is mentioned that Ravana was born later. It is explained in the Ramayana that Pulah, Pulatsya and Bharat rishis did penance in repentance. In 2066 BS, former President of Myagdi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Pramod Kumar Shrestha and others had envisioned a plan to build a garden in Beni targeting religious tourists.
Although the budget was allocated since 2074 BS, the plan of Ramayana Udyan could not be implemented due to space dispute and lack of resources. A plan has also been put forward to build a religious corridor by incorporating Galeshwor, Puchhai, Jagannath and Todke areas of Muktinath entrance Galeshwor, Pulachaur.
After 30 minutes of travel from Beni Bazar in a car, you can reach later. The road from Beni Arthunge, Bansbot, Ekpate to Purundi has been blacktopped. After traveling about two kilometers from Purundi, it is reached later.
