Kathmandu. On the first day of the fiscal year 2082-83 BS, 2 percent luxury tax has been imposed on gold. The tax has been implemented as per the budget provision brought by the government along with the new fiscal year.

The government had decided to impose 2 percent luxury tax on the import of gold and gold ornaments through the budget. The luxury tax introduced through the budget will be seen in the gold trading from Thursday.

Similarly, 13 percent VAT has also been imposed on precious stones and diamonds used in gold ornaments from today.
