Construction of walkway on Kaligandaki bank to promote religious tourism

Palpa. Rampur Municipality has constructed a walkway on the banks of Kaligandaki river to promote religious tourism.

According to Mayor Raman Bahadur Thapa, 2,567 meters of walkway was constructed in the fiscal year 2081/82 BS. Mayor Thapa said that a 34-km-long walkway has been constructed in Rampur municipality under the walkway from Ramnadidham to Devghat to highlight the religious, cultural and environmental significance.

“Stone printing and interlocking work is going on on this route and it will contribute to the local tourism and economy by facilitating the natural beauty of the river bank and access to religious places,” said Mayor Thapa.

In the fiscal year 2081/82 BS, the work of printing stones on this route has been completed by placing two-meter wide interlocks at different places. 557 meters in Keladi of Ward No. 3, 191 meters in Jyagdi Park of Ward No. 6, 432 meters interlock in Tilakpur, 195 meters interlock in Sundar FunPark, 678 meters of stone printing and 210 meters interlock in Bhujat area of Ward No. 8, 114 meters of stone printing in Shalikram Park of Ward No. 10 and 190 meters interlock of Narmadeshwar Temple and printing of stones.

Similarly, waiting rooms have been constructed at Bhanghat and Tatopanighat. The project has been implemented in coordination with the federal government and Rampur Municipality. Locals believe that the construction of the walkway will help promote religious tourism in the area as the Kaligandaki river is connected to Ramnadidham, Keladidham, Ramghatdham, Rididham and Devghat.
