90 percent financial progress of Water Supply Department

Kathmandu. The Department of Drinking Water and Sewerage Management under the Ministry of Drinking Water has made public the financial progress of the recently concluded fiscal year.

The Department has achieved 90 percent financial progress in the current fiscal year. Compared to the previous years, the department has made significant improvements this time.

According to the Department, this success has been possible due to clear instructions, policy guidance and dedicated efforts of the departmental team. The department’s financial progress was only 63 percent in the previous fiscal year, but in the last fiscal year, the department has been able to make a total financial progress of 90.10 percent.

According to the department’s updated data, The Federal Drinking Water and Sewerage Management Project Banke has achieved 97.83 percent, Ramechhap 96.91 percent, Rupandehi 95.94 percent, Myagdi 95.62 percent and Kaski 95.42 percent.

Director General of the Department, Engineer Ram Kumar Shrestha, said that the Department has been able to achieve significant success due to timely implementation, monitoring and inter-institutional coordination. “The financial progress of the department has reached 90 per cent. This is a big achievement for the ministry including the department. The Department is grateful to all those including the Ministry of Drinking Water and the Ministry of Finance. ’

Minister Yadav said that the speed and result-oriented progress shown by the Department in drinking water and sewerage management projects across the country is the main reason for this achievement. “It is our responsibility to fulfill the basic needs of the people. He said that the efforts and work done to expand the service in the areas of drinking water, especially in the areas where there is no access to rural areas, is also commendable. He expressed the belief that this achievement would lead to more commitment and transparency in the next fiscal year.

Director General shrestha said that 15 offices under the Department have become permanent this year and source consent has been obtained for 81 projects worth Rs 11.63 billion.

According to him, the agreement for the Bheri Pumping Project with the support of the World Bank was completed this fiscal year, the mission of the Integrated Project of the Asian Development Bank is going on and the contract for the project is ready to be called within the next two months.
