Kathmandu. Myagdi: A large number of devotees have thronged galeshwordham, a famous religious place in Beni municipality-9 of Myagdi, since the first Monday morning of Saun. It is believed that if lord Shiva is worshiped on monday in the month of Saun, the wishes of the people will be fulfilled. It has been mentioned in The Hindu scriptures that Sati Devi’s throat fell and the name Galeshwar remained.
The arrival of devotees has increased since early morning and arrangements have been made for worship and darshan in a systematic manner. Various organizations including Galeshwor Mother’s Group, Community Police Service Center, New West Point Residential Secondary School, Nepal Police have played the role of volunteers in the temple.
A total of 23 sub-committees have been formed to manage the devotees for offering prayers and visiting the temple. It is customary for married women dressed in green bangles, green and yellow clothes to go to Shivalaya on Monday of Saun and worship and fast with the wish of getting family happiness and unmarried good groom.
There is a religious belief that offering water of Kaligandaki River at 108 Shivalingma along with darshan and worship of Galeshwar Shivalaya will bring family happiness, peace and opulence.
It has been mentioned in various religious texts and Puranas that the temple, located in the same chakrashila of 9 ropanis of land after rising from the holy Kaligandaki River, fell on the death of Sati Devi in satyayug and became galeshwar.
Galeshwar Temple, which is the gateway to the famous Muktinath Temple, has become the center of religious tourism lately. Devotees from different districts of Nepal as well as third countries including India visit the temple in Galeshwor. Idols of Lord Shiva and other gods have been placed inside the temple.
