New minimum wage for non-tea garden workers

Kathmandu. The new minimum wage fixed by the government for workers other than tea gardens has come into effect.

The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has published a notification in the Nepal Gazette today stating that the minimum wage for workers other than tea gardens has already come into effect from July 1.

The ministry has fixed the new wage as per Section 106 of the Labour Act 2074 BS. Now the minimum monthly wage of the workers has been increased to Rs 19,550. Of this, the basic salary is Rs 12,170 and dearness allowance is Rs 7,380.

A minimum of Rs 754 has been fixed for daily wage workers. The basic wage is Rs 470 and dearness allowance is Rs 284. The minimum wage for workers working per hour has been fixed at Rs 101. Of this, the basic wage is Rs 63 and dearness allowance is Rs 38. The minimum wage for part-time workers is Rs 107 per hour.
