Kathmandu. All the four gates of Pashupatinath temple have been opened for devotees from 3 am on the first Monday of The Month of Saun.
Pashupati Area Development Trust’s Culture Conservation Division Chief Arun Biset said arrangements have been made so that around 500,000 devotees can enter the main temple throughout the day.
On the Monday of the month of Saun, the Vedic Sanatan Hindus observe a fast and worship Lord Shiva in a ritualistic manner. Devotees thronged the pashupatinath temple premises since 3:00 am.
Tickets of less than Rs 7,500 will not be deducted for the special puja in the month of Saun. On the occasion of Sawan Monday, especially women observe a ritualistic fast and worship at Shivalaya. Since the month of Saun and Monday are the month and time of Lord Shiva, it is believed that taking a bath in the morning and worshiping and visiting the Shiva temple will fulfill the wishes and get unwavering good fortune.
Marwari Society has arranged free food for the devotees. This arrangement will continue on days other than Monday. From this year, the Trust has arranged free buses on the Ring Road for those visiting Pashupatinath on Monday of Saun. According to the Trust, four buses will serve the devotees by circumambulating the ring road. The service will continue on all four Mondays of July.
