Kathmandu. Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav had set out for an inspection on Sunday night with an aim to make the works under the much-awaited Melamchi Drinking Water Supply System more effective for the people of the Valley.
On Sunday night, Minister Yadav inspected the sites where melamchi drinking water pipeline has been laid in the areas from the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar to Naxal, Tundaldevi, Bishalnagar, Bangshidhar Marg and Suvarna Shamsher Road.
During the monitoring and inspection, Minister Yadav directed the subordinate employees to immediately complete the pipe test in the area where the pipeline has been laid and distribute melamchi water.
Minister Yadav said that the construction of the primary pipeline (315 mm280 mm) (HDEP) laid under the Melamchi Drinking Water Supply System at the Prime Minister’s residence at Baluwatar and surrounding areas has been completed successfully through horizontal directional drilling (HDD) technology and preparations were underway to distribute melamchi drinking water soon.
“It was found that the work of laying pipelines in Baluwatar and other areas under melamchi drinking water supply system has been successful,” he said. I have directed to distribute Melamchi water in those areas soon. ’
Project Implementation Directorate (PID) Chief Laxmi Upadhyay said that after the successful completion of the pressure test of the pipeline, the supply of Melamchi water will be started in the areas under ‘DMA H-2’, ‘I-3’, ‘I-4’ and ‘I-5’, Baluwatar, Naxal (Bhatbhateni East), Tundaldevi, Bishalnagar, Wangshidhar Marg West and Suvarna Shamsher Road.
According to him, around 3,500 households in the area are expected to be directly benefited after the distribution of water. Project Manager of Project Implementation Directorate (PID), Amit Ranjit, said that the pipeline has been laid in line with the long-term goal of supplying clean, clean and regular drinking water to the residents of Kathmandu Valley.
