Chairman of China’s International Development Assistance Mission calls on PM

Kathmandu. A delegation led by Chen Xiaodong, Chairman of China’s International Development Assistance Agency (SIDCA), paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today.

During the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar, discussions were held on bilateral relations between the two countries, the bilateral agreement reached at the Ministry of Finance on Monday and the implementation of the agreements on development cooperation signed earlier during the high-level visit between the two countries, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.

Noting that Nepal and China have long and friendly relations, pm Oli reiterated Nepal’s commitment to one-China policy. He thanked the Chinese government for giving priority to the construction of physical structures damaged at the border points of the two countries at Rasuwagadhi due to the recent flash floods.

He stressed the need for the operation of Kimathanka and other border points with China and the projects under the Belt and Road Initiative framework to move ahead without any hindrance to make Nepal land-locked.

Pm’s Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Economic Development Advisor Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song and high officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present on the occasion.

The delegation held discussions with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel regarding the projects being run with the support of the Chinese government and to be implemented in the coming days.

On the occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on the project related to bone marrow transplantation at BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Bharatpur, Chitwan and feasibility study for the expansion of civil servants hospital.

Similarly, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on human resource development and a feasibility study for the construction of Rasuwagadhi-Kerung inter-country power transmission line were also signed between the two countries.
