Kavrepalanchowk. In the last fiscal year 2081/82 BS, 91.76 percent cases have been disposed of by the district court. Of the total 2,320 cases set by the court in the current fiscal year, 2,129 or 91.76 per cent cases have been disposed of.
During this period, there were 1,358 cases of shifting of old responsibilities. A total of 3,591 cases, including 2,233 registered in the last fiscal year, were disposed of, out of which 2,129 cases were disposed of and 1,462 cases were yet to be disposed of, said Karna Bahadur Rai, spokesperson at the office.
According to him, most of the cases registered in the court are related to divorce. These include 637 divorces, 245 cheque dishonours, 331 share customs, 98 maintenance, 44 forced labour and 878 others.
Similarly, 26.25 per cent or 296 of the total 1,561 cases have been sent for mediation. According to the court, there are 78 cases of reconciliation, 185 cases of non-reconciliation and 33 cases pending in the reconciliation process.
Depending on the nature of the case, the court divides the cases into three categories. Cases that need to be heard within six months are simple-way cases, while cases that should be completed within one year and within 18 months are under general and special category.
According to the court, confusion is the main reason for not being able to settle the case as per the target while determining the areas as per the route of the case and managing the automatic pace. According to the court, there has been a decrease in the disposal of cases due to the transfer of judges, training and the judge being on leave in August and the plaintiff-defendant having to pass the date and postpone the case.
According to District Court Chief Justice Matrika Prasad Acharya, the test report of the samples sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for testing does not come on time and the government has delayed the process of opening the complainant, government witnesses, arrest warrant and deadline.
The court disposed of 65.33 per cent cases in fy 2079/80, 58.79 per cent in 2080/81 and 59.28 per cent in fy 2081/82.
