Jhapa. The book titled ‘Mahaveer Pun Remembrance, Sapna and Aviral Yatra’, an autobiography of Dr Mahaveer Pun, chairman of the National Innovation Centre, has sold 218,000 copies.
Dr Pun, who had come to Birtamode to sell books with the help of the Centre, shared this information. According to him, Rs 120 million has already been deposited in the account of the National Innovation Centre through the sale of books. His book is priced at Rs 750.
The amount would be used for birgunj tool factory and innovation activities being run by the Centre, he added. He has been in Jhapa for a week for the sale of books and the trend of buying books is increasing by inviting him institutionally and personally.
Birtamod Municipality organized a program on Monday and purchased books worth Rs 50,000 to support the center. Deputy Mayor Pabitra Mahatara Prasain said pun’s campaign to make the country self-reliant was commendable and he was proud to buy his book and help him.
Chief Executive Officer of Sahara Nepal Savings and Credit Co-operative Society Limited Mahendra Giri said that the patriotism and perseverance of scientist Mahavir Pun was exemplary and he should contribute to making the country self-reliant by purchasing his book.
In Birtamod, Damak, Barhadashi, Birtamod, Buddhashanti and other municipalities, a campaign is being run to buy his book under the leadership of local social organizations and youth.
Speaking at a programme organized in Birtamod on Monday, Dr Pun urged the youth not to just abuse the leaders on social media. “We should contribute to the country even if they are small,” he said, adding, “It is not just by abusing the leaders on social media.” ’
Currently, 15 types of agricultural implements are being produced at the National Innovation Centre, he said. He expressed the belief that these equipments would be beneficial for the small farmers of the municipality in the future.
