Nepalis stranded in Kerung flood to be repatriated via Tatopani border point today

Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Nepalis stranded in China due to floods in Lhende rivulet on The Nepal-China border on July 14 will be repatriated today.

Nepalis who could not return home after the Nepal-China Miteri bridge was washed away due to floods are being brought back to Nepal through Tatopani border point of Sindhupachowk today.

Rasuwa House of Representatives member Engineer Mohan Acharya met Foreign Minister Dr Arju Rana Deuba on Monday and urged him for diplomatic initiatives to repatriate Nepalis stranded in China.

During the meeting, Lawmaker Acharya discussed the delay in bringing nepalis from Kerung to Nepal, construction of temporary bridge connecting Nepal and China, reconstruction of Miteri bridge connecting the two countries and exchange of information related to weather forecast. He drew Rana’s attention.

With this attention, the Nepalis stranded in China are going to be brought back home through Tatopani border point of Sindhupalchowk today. Those stranded in China are being brought to Nepal via Tatopani border point as a bridge has not been constructed in Rasuwa.

Chief District Officer of Rasuwa, Arjun Poudel, said that the government has made arrangements for transportation to Kathmandu for Nepalis coming to Nepal through Tatopani border point.

According to Chief District Officer Poudel, 203 Nepalis have been brought back to Nepal, including drivers and sick people, taking regular medicines and running out of medicines. Although the Syafurbesi-Rasuwagadhi road section, which was obstructed due to floods, has come into operation, they are being brought back to Nepal through Tatopani border point as miteri bridge has not come into operation, he said.
