Taplejung. The flood has washed away the Bailey Bridge on the Tamor River connecting Maktanglung Rural Municipality-5 and 6.
Tenzing Walung, a local, informed that the bridge was washed away due to floods in Hellok and Simbuwa rivulets due to incessant rain. Traffic has been disrupted in the area due to the bridge being washed away.
The water level of tamor river has also increased due to floods. The bailey bridge was built by Remit Hydropower Company four years ago.
Urged to be vigilant in the vicinity of Arun River
The District Administration Office, Sankhuwasabha, has urged people to remain alert as there is a risk of floods and landslides due to heavy rainfall in the upper region.
According to Chief District Officer Dibyaraj Podrel, heavy rainfall occurred at the Num Rain Measurement Centre at Makalu rural municipality in the last three hours.
CDO Pokharel said that the residents of the settlements around the coastal areas have been urged to remain alert as there has been excessive rainfall in the upper areas and there is a possibility of more rain. The residents of the area have been alerted as the small rivulets flowing through the area may increase suddenly and there may be a risk of landslide in the weak and steep land.
