Kathmandu. Madhes province is currently reeling under drought and drought. Due to lack of rain, farming has not been done so far and there is an acute shortage of drinking water in some places.
At present, there is an acute shortage of drinking water in all the 32 wards of Birgunj Metropolitan City. Vindhyavasini Tole of Ward No. 19 and Ram Gaduwa Tole of Ward No. 24 of the municipality are facing acute shortage of drinking water.
Nepal Army, local government and drinking water corporation have been distributing water in the area.
At present, shreejang battalion under the 28 corps of The Nepal Army’s Middle Eastern Division headquarters is distributing 90,000 liters of water daily in three phases (7 am, 2 pm and 6 pm) with the help of six fire engines, according to Ganapati Chief Fighter Lokendra Karki.
Nepal Army distributes water thrice a day, now this is the water for cooking and drinking water. He said that all the chapakals, wells and wells in the village have dried up and have not happened in the year.
Suraj Kumar Yadav, a local, said that no local government or political party has provided any help here. He said the Nepal Army has so far provided the amount of water and other wards and municipalities have not done anything.
