Kathmandu. The Department of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Population has supplied vaccines against rabies and medicines used in snakebite treatment to all seven provinces of the country.
Chief of the Management Division under the Department, Dr Pawan Jung Rayamajhi, said that the medicines already procured and in the process of supply have already reached the supply centers so that they can be distributed to the health institutions of the state governments.
Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Poudel has directed the subordinate authorities to manage the supply immediately so that there is no shortage of vaccines and medicines used in the treatment of rabies and snakebite. He directed the officials concerned to take all necessary measures to increase the supply situation and prevent shortage in the future. Accordingly, the Department of Health Services has supplied both types of medicines to all the provinces.
According to the department data, 51,180 vials of the vaccine used against rabies have already reached the state supply centers. The highest supply has been made in Bagmati Province. In Bagmati, 10,080 vials of rabies vaccine have been supplied and 1,000 vials of venom against snakebite have been supplied.
Similarly, 2,500 vials of venom against snakebite and around 5,000 vials of rabies vaccine have been supplied in Madhes province, which has the highest number of snakebite problems.
Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr Prakash Budhathoki, said that vaccines and venom have been supplied to other provinces based on the demand. According to the department, arrangements have been made to supply four times more of the current supply within two months.
