Kathmandu. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, paddy has been sown in 78.84 percent of the area under paddy sowing across the country till Sunday.

In Koshi Province, 80.39 per cent and 51.82 per cent in Madhes Province have been planted. Similarly, 87.19 percent of the area in Bagmati Province and 81.53 percent in Gandaki Province have been planted. In Lumbini Province, 92.04 percent of the area has been planted. According to the Ministry, paddy has been sown in 91.38 percent area in Karnali Province and 98.94 percent in Sudurpaschim Province.

Last year, 92.6 per cent of the area was planted till July 30. Due to lack of rain in some areas including Madhes province this year, sowing has been done in less areas as compared to last year.
