Dang. Farmers here are worried about the lack of sale of lemons. Govinda Adhikari, a farmer at Koilawas of Gadhwa rural municipality-8, said most of the land is being wasted due to lack of easy marketing. He has been cultivating it commercially for the last five years.

He said that due to Indian lemon, locally produced lemons have not got the market. He said, “I am aiming to do something in the country, although I am disappointed with not getting the market, I have not lost courage. “Recently, one quintal of lemon has been wasted in the field,” he said. Adhikari, a 25-year-old farmer, has 150 lemon plants in his field.

According to him, 497 kg was sent on credit as there was a demand from Kathmandu after putting it in the sale on social media in the recent past. He said that he had sent it at the rate of Rs 80.

He has been cultivating lemon commercially in his own village and said that he has to look for a market for the sale of lemons. He said, “I am engaged in this business with the feeling of doing something in the country. ’

He has been cultivating lemon commercially on one bigha of land. Farmer Adhikari has been earning rs 250,000 more annually from this. Along with lemon, he has also been cultivating mangoes, litchis, amla etc.

Initially, his three brothers cultivated lemons together. His elder brother Bikram Adhikari is currently in foreign employment while his brother Jeevan has been supporting him. This has made it easier to continue commercial cultivation, he said.
