Incessant rain disrupts Ridi-Wamitaksar and Dashrathchand highways

Gulmi. The Ridi-Wamitaksar road in Gulmi has been obstructed due to incessant rain since last night. Information Officer at the District Police Office, Ganga Bahadur Saru, said that the road has been completely blocked since this morning due to the rise in the water level at Dahare khola of Satyawati rural municipality-6 under the Ridi-Wamitaksar road section.

According to police, vehicles travelling from Daharema to Burtiwang of Baglung via Ridi have not been able to operate as the road has been completely blocked due to flooding.

Information Officer Saru said that a police team has been mobilized from Johang Khaireni to operate the obstructed road, but it is raining and the rain has not stopped.

Similarly, the water level in Badigad rivulet in Gulmi has also increased due to incessant rainfall for the past two days. The District Administration Office has urged the people living along the banks of the rivulets to remain alert and settle in safe places during the rainy season.

The administration has advised people not to travel long distances except for essential work. The District Disaster Management Committee has placed more than 180 places in Gulmi at high risk of floods and landslides.

Similarly, the Dasharathchand Highway has been obstructed due to landslide at Jaude of Patan Municipality-4 in Baitadi. The road has been blocked due to landslides triggered by incessant rains since Monday.

Spokesperson at the District Police Office, Balram Pandey, said that vehicular movement has been stopped due to the obstruction of the road in Jeude Mode.

Vehicles have been stopped in the middle of the road due to landslide this morning. Efforts are being made to open the blocked road. Landslides have occurred in Jeude from time to time after digging the road during the improvement of the diversion. Electricity poles are also at risk due to landslides, he said.
