Man arrested for extorting Rs 21 lakh from fake gold and Rs 13 lakh for being an employee

Kathmandu. Police have arrested two persons on charges of duping people of Rs 2.15 million by showing fake gold.

The arrestees have been identified as Buddhi Bahadur Tamang, 28, of Bode, Bhaktapur Thimi-8 and Suman Tamang, 22, of Megang rural municipality-8 in Nuwakot and sudal of Chagunarayan-8 in Bhaktapur, according to Information Officer at the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office and Superintendent of Police Kazi Kumar Acharya.

According to him, they were arrested on the charge of taking Rs 1.2 million from Dhak Bahadur Budhathoki of Okhaldhunga and Rs 950,000 from Arjun Basnet of Bhimeshwor-5 in Dolakha on June 15.

A gold-like yellow metal (1 kg) was recovered from their possession. Information Officer Acharya said that both of them have been sent to District Police Range Bhaktapur for further investigation and necessary action. Similarly, police have arrested a person on the charge of extorting Rs 1.32 5 million on the pretext of being an employee of The Kathmandu Metropolitan City( KMC).

The arrestees have been identified as Raju Lama, 28, of Sailung rural municipality-2 in Dolakha and currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6.  A police team deputed from The Police Circle, New Baneshwor, arrested Lama for collecting money from every house in the ward area of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-31 claiming to be a sanitation worker of The Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Spokesperson Bohara said that during the investigation, he was not an employee of the Metropolitan City, but he had recovered Rs 1.325 million so far and rs 6,500 in cash, five receipts, bills, nine tariff cards of Koteshwor Best Concern and two cleaning fee cards of Nepal Phulbari Service Pvt Ltd were recovered from his possession.
