7th meeting of Nepal-India border task force held

Kathmandu. The seventh meeting of the Nepal-India Border Task Force concluded in New Delhi today in a cordial and friendly atmosphere. The Nepali delegation was led by Director General of the Department of Measurement Prakash Joshi while the Indian delegation was led by Director General of the Department of Measurement Hitesh Kumar S. Makwana did.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of the results of the sixth meeting held in Dehradun in August 2019 and reviewed the progress of the 11th Committee meeting held at the same place in September of the same year in 2019. The meeting also agreed to adopt new technology in survey and mapping to make the work of mechanism related to inspection and maintenance of border pillars along the Nepal-India border more effective.

The meeting concluded with the signing of the MoU. The two sides agreed to hold the next meeting of the committee comprising officials of the Department of Measurement in Nepal next month and the next meeting of the Border Task Force in Nepal on a date favorable to both countries.

The Border Task Force is a joint body formed by the Governments of Nepal and India in 2014. It has the mandate to carry out construction, restoration and maintenance of border pillars and other technical works.
