Government to accept Japanese government’s grant to restore BP Highway damaged by floods

Kathmandu. The government has decided to accept grant assistance worth 2.8 billion Japanese yen from the Japanese government for the emergency rehabilitation of sindhuli road damaged by floods.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung made public the decision taken by the Council of Ministers on August 17 through a press conference today.

Similarly, the government has decided to accept concessional loan assistance of rs 18.92 billion from the International Development Organization of the World Bank Group for the third phase of Rani Jamara Kularia Irrigation Project.

It has also decided to accept a shorter maturity loan of US$ 86.7 million and a concessional loan of US $ 33.3 million from the International Development Organization of the World Bank Group for the power distribution system upgradation and strengthening project.

The cabinet also decided to accept grant assistance worth 20 million euros provided by the German government for the Power Distribution Strengthening Program (POSISP).

Similarly, Minister Gurung said that the government has decided to form a task force under the coordination of Ramu Prasad Dotel (Parbat) with Ramesh Prasad Siwakoti (Dolakha) and Chandi Prasad Ghimire (Lalitpur) as members to submit a report with suggestions on maintaining uniformity in the remuneration and service facilities of the office-bearers and employees of the establishment boards, committees and public institutions and other bodies funded by the state treasury.

Similarly, it has been decided to approve the Letter of Exchange for amending the Protocol of Nepal-India Transit Treaty, 2023 and authorize the signing of the LoE on behalf of the Government of Nepal.

The Cabinet has decided to allow Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka to participate in the ‘National Forum on Pumped Storage High-Tropaver’ program to be held in Paris from September 23 to 25.

The Cabinet has decided to allow Secretary at the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Paraswar Dhungana, to participate in the second session of the Marine Biodiversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisprudence (BVNJ) Preparatory Commission to be held at the United Nations Headquarters, New York from September 28 to 23.

As per the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission, the government has decided to elevate Man Bahadur Karki, Joint Registrar of the Supreme Court, to the post of Registrar of the Supreme Court by appointing him to the post of Registrar of the Supreme Court.

Minister Gurung, who is also the spokesperson of the government, informed that it has been decided to allow Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Gokarna Mani Duwadi to participate in the ‘Care for South Asia Project Compliance and Desimination Workshop’ organized in Bangkok, Thailand from July 13 to 25.

Similarly, a Nepali delegation led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will be formed to participate in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlock Developing Countries (LLDESITH) from July 18 to 27.

The government has decided to appoint Dhruba Raj Bhattarai (Tanahun) as registrar of Nepal Engineering Council, approve principles for formulation of a bill to amend and integrate the laws related to national youth, promote one assistant general of the Nepal Army to the post of major general and six major fighters to the post of general, and transfer six generals.

The government has decided to exempt the salutation amount of 97 mountains opened for mountaineering in Karnali State and SudurPaschim Province for the fiscal years 2082/83 and FY 2083/84 in accordance with Section 36 of the Tourism Act, 2035 and rule 32 (b) of the Mountaineering Regulations, 2059.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers has decided to appoint Dr Ujjal Chalise, Kaski as executive director of Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital Development Committee as per sub-section 920 of Section 9 of the Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital Development Committee (Formation) Order, 2077 BS.

Minister Gurung informed that the government has decided to promote Joint Attorney Surya Raj Dahal to the post of Deputy Attorney General as per the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission and transfer Khem Raj Gyawali, secretary of the Commission for Investigation of Disappeared Persons, to the post of Deputy Attorney General of the Office of the Attorney General.
