Janakpurdham. More than 2,000 industrialists and commercial firms in Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Sindhuli and Ramechhap have been fined.
The office has taken action against 2,043 industrialists and business firms for cheating in measurement and not renewing the measuring machine for a long time.
The Office of Measurement at Janakpurdham, which has the jurisdiction of the five districts mentioned above, has taken action against those involved in irregular activities in commercial transactions in the last fiscal year 2081/82 BS.
Office Chief Sunil Yadav said that during the monitoring, the industrialists were found to be using measuring machines based on lids and scales and ‘digital’ technology.
According to Yadav, action has been taken as per the law on the basis of complaints of using measuring machines on their own without permission and taking more money by giving low weight items during the on-site monitoring and inspection conducted from July to June last year.
Lalbandi and Hariban municipalities of Sarlahi, Gaushala of Mahottari, Manthali municipality of Ramechhap and Kamalamai municipality of Sindhuli have been alerted with fine after they were found guilty of using measuring machines during the period.
The office has collected Rs 5,101,960 in revenue during the single and joint monitoring carried out several times. In the previous fiscal year 2080÷81 BS, the office had collected revenue of Rs 4 million 67 thousand 242.
Office Chief Yadav complained that the office, which has jurisdiction in five districts, was facing difficulties due to lack of its own building, there was no working environment while living in a small rented house, there was no facility of vehicles for door monitoring and deployment and there was no budget required for the operation of the office.
