Sunsari. The water level in saptakoshi river has increased due to rain. On Sunday evening, 191,210 cusecs of water flow per second was measured at koshi barrage.

Superintendent of Armed Police Force Nirmal Thapa informed that 175,685 cusecs of water was flowing through koshi barrage this morning.

At present, 23 out of 56 gates of 52 main and four canals have been opened, he said. Red beacons have been lit as a sign of danger to alert the general public after more than 150,000 water levels flowed through the Koshi Barrage.

Accordingly, a red light was lit, according to the Koshi Barrage Control Room. The Saptakoshi river breached the eastern embankment on September 1, 2008, when 168,000 cusecs of water flowed.
