Kathmandu. Dang, Bardiya and Banke have received very heavy rainfall in the recent past. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, in the last 12 hours, the water bodies in Dang received the highest rainfall of 227 mm.
Similarly, Sikta of Banke received 200 mm rainfall while Manpur of Bardiya received 167 mm rainfall. Banke and Dang received very heavy rainfall while Bardiya received very heavy rainfall. Dang has received more than 25 mm rainfall in the last one hour.
According to Meteorologist Hari Prasad Dahal of the Meteorological Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, there will be more rainfall in western Nepal this afternoon and night. However, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places of other states.
He said that due to the formation of a small system of rain, there will be more rain in the western region during the afternoon and night. However, the impact of the monsoon low pressure system is all over Nepal. As a result, the monsoon will remain active for a few more days.
In the last six hours, heavy rainfall has occurred in Tulsipur, Ambapur, Jalkundi of Dang, West Rapti, Sikta of Banke, Manpur Rain Gauge Center of Bardiya and adjoining areas. The Flood Forecasting Division has urged the people to remain on high alert as there is a risk of flash floods in Babai, West Rapti River, Duduwa Rivulet and other small rivulets flowing through the area and inundation in the Hocha area.
At present, there is an influence of monsoon winds across the country. The monsoon trough is located in the Terai of Nepal, on the north side of the southern region.
It is mostly cloudy throughout the country. Light to moderate rainfall is taking place at most places of Lumbini Province, Most places of Madhes, Gandaki, Karnali and SudurPaschim Provinces and at a few places of Koshi and Bagmati Provinces.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at a few places of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudur Paschim provinces and at one or two places of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces during the next 24 hours. According to the Division, monsoon is likely to remain active throughout the country including Madhes province for the next few days.
