Sunsari. The flow of water flowing through the Koshi Barrage has been fluctuating since Monday morning due to incessant rain in the eastern hilly and Tarai districts.

The water level was 175,685 cusecs per second as measured at 6 am on Monday, while it was 175,685 cusecs per second as measured at 8 pm on Monday.

According to Superintendent of Armed Police Force Nirmal Thapa, the water level was 179,740 cusecs per second as per the measurement at 10 pm on Monday. At present, 19 out of 52 main and four canal gates have been opened, he said.

Red beacons have been lit as a warning sign to alert the general public as more than 150,000 water levels have flowed through the Koshi Barrage. According to the Koshi Barrage Control Room, the red light was lit accordingly.

The Saptakoshi River breached the eastern embankment on September 1, 2065 BS when 168,000 cusecs of water flowed.
