Kaski. Pokhara: Police have arrested 11 Indian nationals with 6.4 kg of illegal gold in Pokhara. They hail from Maharashtra and West Bengal in India and live in different parts of Pokhara and were arrested on Saturday.
Superintendent of Police Shyam Babu Olia, who is also the chief of the District Police Office, said rs 514,000 in cash was also recovered from them. A police team was deployed in Pokhara Metropolitan City-2, 3, 4 and 9 on the basis of information that illegal gold and silver were being traded.
The arrestees have been identified as Rajendra Ramchandra Jagtap (41), Sunita Pawar (40), Maniklal Adak (45), Asit War (35), Tapas Samanta (44), Ujjwal Bhomik (38), Sandeep Dhav (35), Somnath Pal (41), Deepak Samant (47), Govinda Dinda (47) and Probhas Majhi (49). Superintendent of Police Olia said 444 tolas of silver were also recovered from them. The market value of the seized gold is Rs 110 million.
The arrested persons will be sent to the Revenue Investigation Office, Butbal for further investigation and necessary action along with the recovered gold, silver and cash, police said.
