Bhojpur. Farmers of Bhojpur have been engaged in the expansion of cultivation after the increase in the price of cardamom. The farmers have been engaged in the expansion of cardamom cultivation after getting good prices for the cardamom produced earlier.

Shiva Kumar Bista of Temkemaiung-5 said that the farmers here have been protecting the old gardens with the expansion of new gardens after the price hike since last year. According to him, the farmers were excited after cardamom was sold at Rs 100,000 to Rs 102,000 per person last year.

He said that after the price hike, the traditional crop has been removed and started cultivating cardamom again. Until a few years ago, many farmers did not expand their gardens due to the continuous fall in prices.

Rajesh Bista, president of the Federation of Cardamom Entrepreneurs, said that the farmers are expanding their gardens after getting good prices in the market. He said that farmers can get better income if the state provides technical support. He said that it is necessary to have an agricultural technician in each cardamom zone to control diseases and pests.

“With the increase in prices, farmers are engaged in expanding the cardamom cultivation area,” bista said. If there was better technical support from the state level, the farmers would be able to earn better income. ’

Chairman Bista said cardamom would be a better source of income if a new nursery could be established after soil testing. Around 150 farmers are cultivating cardamom commercially in Temkemaiung-5 alone.

According to the Agriculture Knowledge Center, cardamom is being produced on about 597 hectares of land in the district. Ramshahi, Golshahi, Dambar Shahi and Zirmale varieties of cardamom are cultivated here.

Cardamom is cultivated more in Cholanti, Dobhane, Kudakaule, Sampang, Annapurna, Champe, Khawa, Chhinamkhu, Kimalung Wasingtharpu, Timma Heloucha, Gupteshwor and other places.
