Seven directorates and two centres abolished in Gandaki province, 185 staff posts reduced

Gandaki. The Gandaki State government has decided to reduce the number of employees to 185 with the abolition of seven different directorates and two centers in the province.

A meeting of TAG_OPEN_div_20 the Council of Ministers of the Gandaki state government held today took the decision with the aim of making the administrative structure economical along with cutting the existing expenditure of the province, chief minister Surendra Raj Pandey said at a press conference here today.

Chief Minister Pandey informed TAG_OPEN_div_16 that it has been decided to merge 32 different district-level bodies into 17. The directorates that will be abolished are the Directorate of Protection of Tourism, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Interest, Directorate of Agricultural Development, Directorate of Livestock and Fisheries Development, Directorate of Infrastructure Development, Forest Directorate, Directorate of Education Development and Provincial Health Directorate.

Provincial Health Training Center and Provincial Health Supply Management Center are the centers that have been abolished

Stating that the existing administrative structure of the province was cumbersome and the expenses could not be met, he said the decision was taken on the basis of the recommendations received as per the report given by the Provincial Administrative Structure Review Study and Suggestion Committee formed by the government.

Stating that this step has been taken in the context of gradually implementing the

report on the basis of need and justification, he said that it was believed that it would make structural reforms, current expenditure reduction, speedy administration as well as economical and effective service delivery.
