Birgunj. More divorce cases have been registered in Parsa than domestic violence. According to parsa district court, 343 divorce cases were filed in Parsa in the last fiscal year.
Out of the cases registered, 264 divorce cases have been disposed of. A total of 79 divorce cases are yet to be disposed of in the last fiscal year.
According to District Court Judge Nanda Kishore Prasad Yadav, more divorce cases have been registered in the district than domestic violence. Cases of domestic violence are also settled in the local level judicial committee, police and other bodies. Foreign employment is also considered to be the main reason for divorce.
According to the district court, 95 cases related to domestic violence were registered in the last fiscal year, out of which 53 cases have been disposed of. Forty-two cases are yet to be disposed of. In the last fiscal year, 98 cases of extortion were registered in Parsa, out of which 56 cases have been disposed of and 42 cases are yet to be disposed of.
