Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has questioned which of the hundreds arrested for misappropriating billions of rupees of cooperatives is revenge and which is justified.
Prime Minister Oli said this while addressing a meeting of the House of Representatives.
“What happened to other people in custody? Is that a legal action? Which of the hundreds detained for embezzling billions of rupees has been ‘vendetta’? Which persons are justified in detention? He asked. Time will always seek answers from those who want to be acquitted by killing justice by mobs, he said. He said that the crowd running after them is not only surprising but also kind.
He said that hundreds of people have been prosecuted in the court for misappropriating the savings made by millions of people in cooperatives. “The court is looking into the matter. Dozens of people, including former ministers, former lawmakers and incumbent mayors, have been sent to jail by the court,” he said. ’
He said that it would not be appropriate to take the country to a monologue of awe-inspiring, emotional and damaging provocation by continuously blocking the parliament over such issues.
“The government has no hand in the decision taken by an independent court, whether it is favorable or adverse to the government,” he said.
He argued that parliament, government, courts and almost all parts of the democratic system should be protected from the onslaught of professional ‘mass manipulation’.
