11 houses washed away, 7 houses damaged due to flood in Bichhya rivulet in Bajura

Bajura. The flood on Wednesday night washed away 11 houses in Himali rural municipality-1, Bichhya.

The flood in Bichhya rivulet on Wednesday night has caused extensive damage in wards 1, 3 and 5 of the rural municipality. Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Dev Bahadur Chaudhary, said that 11 houses have been washed away, seven houses have been damaged and 17 houses are at risk.

According to him, a team of Kawadi police station visited the flood-affected areas and collected the data. Houses, shops and farms of Narendra Bahadur Budha, Chhanchalal Thapa, Dhan Singh Thapa, Sabbale Thapa, Lal Bahadur Thapa, Sujlal Thapa and Gowatal Thapa of the same rural municipality-1 have been damaged in the flood.

The houses of Nawaraj Budha, Devi Lal Chadara, Birwal Chadara, Ajay Chadara, Barsara Lwar and Angbir Chadara of the same rural municipality-5 were washed away, police inspector Chaudhary said. Similarly, the houses of Bal Bahadur Chadara, Muga Luhar, Debilal Budha Thapa, Birbhan Luhar and Dawal Luhar were washed away, according to Police Inspector Chaudhary.

The houses of Sujlal Thapa, Dhan Singh Thapa, JabaiLal Thapa, Dhan Bahadur Thapa, Chandrapati Thapa, Dharmalal Thapa and Bal Chandra Thapa of Bichhaya of Himali Rural Municipality-1 are at risk due to the flood. The houses of Locals Une Thapa, Lal Singh Bohara, Dil Bahadur Thapa, Harilal Thapa, Bhaurlal Thapa, Chandrawan Thapa, Ratnapati Thapa, Gobanal Thapa, Dharmajit Thapa and Laxman Thapa are also at high risk due to floods.

Government offices, schools and public structures have also been damaged in the floods. Ward no. 1 office, Bichhya Secondary School, health post, local power line suspension bridge, neta and deusain water logs are also at risk.

A team led by rural municipality chair Govinda Bahadur Malla has reached the flood-affected areas to monitor the damage caused by the floods. Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality, Kul Bahadur Thapa, said that malla’s team went to all the three wards to assess the situation of the damage caused by the floods and the condition of the affected people.

Chairman Malla said that the executive meeting would take a decision for relief and rehabilitation of the flood-affected people.
