Birgunj. A total of 1,689 complaints related to improper transactions (meter interest) in Parsa have been settled through mediation. A total of 2,358 complaints were filed across the district between moneylenders and victims of unfair transactions. Of these, only 637 complaints are yet to be disposed of in the current fiscal year.
Information Officer at the District Police Office and Deputy Superintendent of Police Kishor Lamsal said that 1,689 complaints have been resolved through reconciliation among those received from the district administration and the District Police Office.
Earlier, 1,729 complaints related to interest were received from the district administration and 629 separate complaints were also registered at the police office here. “Earlier, the District Administration Office had settled 220 complaints through reconciliation, while the police have finalized 1,467 complaints. ’
Information Officer Lamsal said that 32 cases related to meter interest have been registered in the court. A total of 17 people, including 15 men and two women, have been arrested for meter-related offences. In Parsa, the amount of reconciliation is Rs 285.95 million. Parsa Police have returned 40 bighas of 15 kattha 19 dhur land.
Information Officer Lamsal said that he has been addressing complaints related to unfair transactions on priority. “Earlier, the District Administration Office used to collect complaints related to unfair transactions on its own,” he said. ’
He said efforts were being made to resolve the complaints related to unfair transactions after discussing with both the parties. “Of late, it has become difficult to arrest the victim as he has been staying with the court’s prohibitory order against the arrest warrant,” he said. The District Police Office has started registering complaints of unfair transactions since February 1, 2018.
