Indian Embassy celebrates 79th Independence Day

Kathmandu. The 79th Independence Day of India was celebrated at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Navin Srivastava unfurled the Indian national flag. On the eve of the 79th Independence Day, The President of India Mrs. Draupadi Murmu presented an address to the nation.

On the occasion, Ambassador Srivastava honoured the wife and close relatives of the deceased Indian Armed Forces personnel. He handed over an AGIF (Army Group Insurance Fund) cheque of Rs 64 million.

The Embassy has also announced book grant for 39 educational institutions and libraries located in all seven provinces and 21 districts of Nepal. It is believed that this initiative will increase access to educational materials for students in remote areas.

Members of the Indian community in Nepal as well as embassy officials and their families enthusiastically participated in the event. On the occasion, students of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kathmandu presented a cultural performance on patriotic songs.
