2,853 incidents of disasters since April

Kathmandu. A total of 2,853 disasters have taken place across the country between April and July 30. A total of 126 people have died in these incidents. Similarly, 585 people were injured.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 23 people have gone missing in the disaster and 5,041 families have been affected. A total of 216 incidents of floods, 317 cases of landslides, 221 cases of heavy rainfall, 245 cases of lightning and 77 cases of snake bite have been reported across the country.

Similarly, 1,114 incidents of fire, 158 cases of fire, 277 of hurricane, 172 of animal attack, 46 of lake, five of earthquake, two of boat overturning, one each of hailstorm and others have been reported.

According to the NRA, seven incidents of fire, one incident of flood, eight cases of landslide, four incidents of incessant rain and three incidents of animal attack were reported on August 14 alone. One person has died in the disaster. The estimated loss is rs 3.84 million. A total of 140 police personnel have been mobilized for the search, rescue and relief of the disaster-affected people.
