Myagdi. Province Hospital Beni has started the service of in-patient and outpatient department from the new building. The treatment of patients has become easier after the treatment room, which has been operating from the rooms of the temporary building for about eight years, has been shifted to the new building. Province Hospital Chief Dr Rabi ranjan Pradhan said outpatient services have been operated on the ground floor of the new building and in-patient services on the first floor.
“It was natural for patients to find it difficult in the cramped rooms of old and temporary buildings and difficulty for health workers and doctors,” he said, adding, “We are preparing to shift the surgery, maternity and pharmacy rooms to the new building, overcoming the managerial challenges.” ’
Chief Dr Pradhan said the initiative has been taken by forming a sub-committee to run the service in the new building in coordination with the building construction office and the builders through the hospital management committee. Separate treatment rooms have been set up for senior citizens, children, women, men and patients who have undergone surgery. Amrit Garbuja of Annapurna Rural Municipality-1, Dowa said that it was easier to get service in the new building.
Beni Hospital, which was upgraded from 15 to 50 beds in 2072 BS, was delayed due to delay in the construction of the building as per the expanded capacity. The service was started by constructing a temporary building after the old out-patient department building was demolished in 2074 BS for the construction of a pucca building.
Dil Kumari Khatri, acting chief of the District Coordination Committee, who is also the chairperson of the hospital management committee, said that one of the three buildings that could be used has been put into use and the rest have been urged to be completed.
The Intensive Urban and Building Construction Project Baglung had signed an agreement with the construction company and the Urban Development and Building Project Baglung for the construction of the hospital building on December 1, 2018. The contract was signed at a cost of Rs 188.48 million and was supposed to be completed on December 15, 2019 as per the target.
Project chief Krishna Kumar Marhajan said that the construction of beni hospital building, which has made 95 percent physical progress, will be completed and handed over by August this year.
Out of the three four-storied buildings constructed on an area of 4,963 square meters, the interior of two buildings has reached the final stage of plastering and painting, installing electricity, water, installation of windows and tiles. A 500-metre road entering and exiting the hospital has been blacktopped.
The earthquake-resistant building is disabled-friendly. The ground floor of the building will have a lottery, mortuary, kitchen, emergency, laboratory, radiology on the first floor, surgery room on the first floor, outpatient services and administration on the last floor.
