New Delhi. China has promised to address India’s three major concerns – scarce minerals, fertilisers and tunnel boring machines.

According to sources, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi assured Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar that China will help India meet these three needs. The Chinese Foreign Minister arrived in India on Monday on a two-day visit.

Earlier on Monday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, in his initial remarks, had said that “economic and trade issues, pilgrimages, people-to-people contacts, river data sharing, border trade, connectivity and bilateral exchanges” will be discussed.

They also followed the concerns raised during their visit to China in July this year. During his meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister, Jaishankar highlighted various aspects and dimensions of India-China relations.

“In this context, restrictive trade measures and barriers need to be avoided. The stable and constructive relationship between India and China is for the benefit of not only us but also the world. It would be better if the relationship is handled on the basis of mutual respect, mutual interest and sensitivity,” he said, adding that differences should not turn into disputes or conflicts of competition. ’

He said the Chinese Foreign Minister’s visit to India has provided an opportunity to the two countries to review bilateral relations and exchange views on the global situation and issues of mutual interest.

India-China relations deteriorated after the standoff triggered by the movement of Chinese troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. The standoff began in April-May 2000, in which some tensions have eased since an agreement to withdraw troops from some friction points.

Before the BRICS summit in 2024, India and China had agreed to make patrolling arrangements along the LAC. In recent months, both countries have taken steps to improve relations. New Delhi: India has stressed the need for de-escalation along the LAC in eastern Ladakh.

Amid efforts to find a solution to the Ukraine war and geopolitical upheavals caused by us President Donald Trump’s taxes, Jaishankar stressed the need to boost stability in the global economy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit China from August 31 to September to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin.
