Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population has handed over a review report prepared for curriculum revision to make school-level health education timely, scientific and effective.

Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Poudel handed over the report to Director General of curriculum development centre Yubaraj Poudel.

The report has been prepared by the National Health Education, Information and Communication Centre under the Ministry of Health. The report reviewed the current health curriculum for classes 1 to 12 in detail and recommended suggestions for curriculum reforms to accommodate changing lifestyles, health challenges and national health policies.

Stating that school education is the first basis and foundation for developing healthy lifestyle habits among the citizens, Minister Poudel expressed the belief that coordination between the Ministry of Health and Education would have a positive impact in the long run.

“Health is not just a matter of hospital treatment, it is an awareness that starts from every home and school. If we give our children the right health information from an early age, they can become agents of change not only for themselves and their family but also for the health of the entire society. ’

Director General of curriculum development centre Yubaraj Poudel lauded the report prepared at the initiative of the Ministry of Health and said that the suggestions received from the concerned ministry on technical and sensitive issues like health were very valuable.
