Kathmandu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the government was making efforts to establish a complete democracy by implementing all fundamental rights including the Right to Information.

Addressing the 19th National Information Day organized by the National Information Commission here today, Prime Minister Oli said he did not understand the meaning of the practice of asking for information to be stored on issues that are not concerned.

“We have brought democracy after a long struggle. I myself have been fighting for the right to freedom and right to information. The present government is clear that we should implement the fundamental rights as we have deliberately provided for them in the constitution.

We all want a broad, independent and disciplined society. Perfect democracy is our medium, which includes all the rights including the right to information,” pm Oli said. There are those who insist that information should be given about the privacy of the person and the issues under investigation.

Some things in the society and the state should not be hidden. When we take the oath, we take an oath that we will not reveal or express the necessary work except when it comes. Therefore, all of us should abide by our discipline and dignity and work towards the implementation of fundamental rights. ’

Stating that there was no power fight between the government and the Information Commission, pm Oli stressed the need of managing the problems seen during the implementation of the fundamental rights. He said the government was clear on bringing social media under registration and regulation of taxes and streamlining the society.

On the occasion, right to information activists, best information officers, journalists and employees were awarded.
