Vice President Xuan calls on President Poudel, focuses on sectors such as agriculture, tourism, production and hydropower

Kathmandu. Vice President of The Socialist Republic of Vietnam Wo Thi Anh Xuan paid a courtesy call on President Ram Chandra Poudel today.

During the meeting held at The President House, Sheetal Niwas, President Poudel said that there is a lot of potential for deepening bilateral economic relations between Nepal and Vietnam in the fields of trade, tourism, investment and technology transfer. “The Government of Nepal is willing to accelerate bilateral cooperation for this purpose,” President Poudel was quoted as saying by President’s Press Advisor Kiran Pokharel.

President Poudel said Nepal is now focused on socio-economic transformation through investment in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, manufacturing and hydropower. He expressed happiness that Vietnam has been able to develop its economy into the world’s most dynamic economy.

Stating that Buddhism, in particular, is a bridge for the deep ties between our two peoples, he said it was a matter of happiness that many Vietnamese should see Lumbini as a holy place for many Vietnamese to visit once in their lives.

On the occasion, Vice President of Vietnam Wo Thi Anh Xuan said that nepal is trying to become a middle-income country by 2030 and Vietnam is trying to become a high-income country by 2045.

Vietnam’s Vice President Xuan stressed the need for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of culture, sports and tourism. He said he was impressed by Nepal’s initiative to maintain peace in the international arena and its commitment to the impact of climate change.
