Drinking water supply halted in Khandbari for weeks

Sankhuwasabha. The drinking water supply to Khandbari bazaar has been disrupted for the past one week due to a landslide in the drinking water source at Mahabhir of Khandbari municipality-4.

According to Dibya Baral, president TAG_OPEN_div_6 of Khandbari Drinking Water and Consumers Association, the distribution of drinking water has come to a complete standstill after a massive landslide buried the intake on August 15. According to him, although the intake was cleaned immediately, the distribution of drinking water has not started as it took time to remove the large amount of mud and waste.

Around TAG_OPEN_div_4 1,000 people of Khandbari Bazaar have been benefiting from the project. Although about one million liters are consumed daily, the locals have become dependent on old wells and taps after the supply was stopped. The organization has said that it is exploring the possibility of alternative sources to ease the supply immediately.
