Baglung. The mid-hill highway has been obstructed due to heavy flood in Kalapara rivulet. The Burtibang-East Rukum section of the Mid-Hill Highway has been completely blocked due to flooding in Kalaparakhola of Nisikhola rural municipality-4 of Baglung.

Heavy rains lashed the country on Sunday night. Tikanidhi Poudel, ward chair of Nisikhola rural municipality-4, said the highway, which has been blocked since last night, has not been opened yet.

Vehicles going from Rukum East to Kathmandu and Pokhara have come to a standstill at Kalapara due to the blockade of the highway. According to Poudel, small vehicles from Burtibang to East Rukum and Rolpa via Nisi, Bhalkot have been stopped at Kanabagar.

He said that continuous efforts are being made to open the road. Chairman Poudel said the road has been obstructed at various places due to landslides and falling of trees at various places of the highway due to incessant rainfall.

Poudel said it was difficult to operate the traffic as the road was flooded with mud falling from the top as soon as it rained. Chairman Poudel said, “This time there has been a big flood, due to which the movement of vehicles has come to a standstill, we have tried to open the machines working on the highway, we are trying to open the passengers to the destination even if it is one-way. ’
