Baitadi. Baitadi: Physical infrastructure has been damaged in various places of Baitadi due to incessant rain. Dharmananda Bhatta of Bhattagaun of Patan municipality-4 in the district has lost his two-storey shop due to landslide triggered by incessant rainfall, said Police Spokesperson at the District Police Office and Police Inspector Balram Pandey.
According to him, more than Rs 100,000 has been damaged in the collapse of the shop. Two houses of Karna Bahadur Dhami of Purchaudi municipality-3 have started collapsing, he said.
Police Inspector Pandey said that the two houses are at high risk of landslide as the walls on both sides of the house have started to crack due to the erosion caused by the rain. According to him, Dhami’s family of six and livestock have been shifted to safer places.
“The houses of Ram Singh Bhat and Karan Dutta Bagh of Kuchgand of Melauli municipality-3 are at risk of landslide. The landslide buried a goat tied near Ram Singh’s house. Although the houses of both of them were damaged, there was no loss of life,” he said.
The houses of Bir Singh Bista and Man Singh Bista of Budhibans of Surnaya rural municipality-3 in the district are at risk. According to the District Police Office, the houses have collapsed due to incessant rains. The families of Birbhan Singh Bhat and Narayan Singh Bhat of Dogadakedar rural municipality-3, Idakot, have been living in their relatives’ houses as the landslide has put their houses at risk, said Police Inspector Pandey.
The Gothalapani-Jhulaghat road, which was obstructed by a landslide at Dasharathchand municipality-10 basepind on Tuesday, came into operation after the landslide was removed. According to Police Spokesperson Pandey, the Dehimadou-Giregada road has been closed since September 15 due to landslide near Dasharathchand-2 Sugarkhali.
“The house of Ganesh Bahadur Chand of Odali of Patan municipality-6 has collapsed due to rain. Karbir Bhatta of Purchaudi-4, Birgaira, has lost his two-storey house. His family of six has been shifted to a safer place. Also, the building of Laxmipur Basic School is at risk due to the collapse,” he said.
Chief District Officer Punya Bikram Poudel said that all the district-based mechanisms have been kept ready for immediate rescue in case of any possible risk.
