PM Oli returns home after attending SCO Summit

Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is returning home today after attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit at the friendly invitation of The People’s Republic of China President Xi Jinping. Prime Minister Oli had left for Tianjin, China, leading a 23-member Nepali delegation on September 14.

During the visit, PM Oli had a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Tianjin. He also addressed the summit. Nepal has been the organization’s dialogue partner since 2016. Established in 2001, the SCO has evolved into one of the largest regional organizations in the world. China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Belarus are its full members.

Afghanistan and Mongolia are observer countries. Nepal, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Maldives, Myanmar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates are dialogue partners.

On the occasion, PRIME Minister Oli held meetings with some world leaders participating in the summit. Similarly, Prime Minister Oli held a meeting with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in Beijing on Tuesday. During the visit, Pm Oli held separate meetings with Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin, President of the Republic of Maldives Dr Mohamed Mijju, Prime Minister of The Kingdom of Cambodia Dr Somdek Moha Borbhor Tipahade Hun Mahanate, Prime Minister of Lao People’s Democratic Republic Sonesai Sipandon and Prime Minister of socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Min Ching.

Pm Oli was accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Raghuji Panta, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey, Nepali Congress lawmaker Purna Bahadur Khadka, Prime Minister’s Economic and Development Advisor Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada, CPN(UML) lawmaker Chhabilal Bishwakarma and high-level government officials.
