Kathmandu. Newly appointed Inspector General of Nepal Police Chandra Kuber Khapung has put the insignia on it today. Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi gave him the insignia amid a ceremony held at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singha Durbar.

On the occasion, Home Secretary Duwadi said the government has appointed Khapung to the highest post of police on the basis of capacity, efficiency and seniority. He said police have an important role to play in maintaining peace, order and good governance in the country, controlling crime and maintaining social justice.

“It is the duty of all of us to make the common people feel safe. Being close to ordinary citizens and being friends of their happiness and sorrow is also a measure of the effectiveness of the police. “We are hopeful that we will be successful in fulfilling the objectives of the police organization by boosting the morale of the police personnel of the overall rank,” said Secretary Duwadi. ’

Stating that criminal activities are becoming a challenge in the society, Secretary Duwadi said, “New series of crimes are increasing. There is a need to control all the activities of crime and establish justice in the society. ’

Similarly, newly appointed Inspector General of Police Khapung said he would do the best he could. “I will do good as much as I can, but I will not do bad,” he said, adding, “I have given priority to the welfare of the gross status and institutional reforms.” ’

Stating that there were challenges in crime investigation, newly appointed Inspector General Khapung stressed the need to expand the capacity of the police to control crimes of international level including artificial intelligence (AI), cyber crime and crypto-related crimes. Recalling that his journey that started from the village of Tehrathum reached the Inspector General of Police, he stressed the need to make the police equipped with technology and resources.
