Tanahun. Tanahun: The electronic medical record system at GP Koirala Respiratory Treatment Centre at Shuklagandaki Municipality-5, Belchautara in Tanahu district is set to cut the expenditure by Rs 2 million annually.
Dr Ram Kumar Shrestha, executive director of the hospital, said that the hospital will cut the annual expenditure of rs 2 million after the introduction of this system with the financial assistance of the World Health Organization.
He said, “With the introduction of this system, after taking x-ray, its report can be seen on the doctor’s computer, at present we are giving X-ray film when the patient asks for X-ray film to take it elsewhere, we will arrange pen drive if this system is implemented in other hospitals.” ’
Shrestha said that with the introduction of this system, it will be easier to get information about ticketing, billing, reports, medicines, etc. through the online system. “This will make it easier to see all the details of the patient from past to present, x-ray report will not have to be printed, x-ray and laboratory report will be easier for the doctor to see directly,” he said. ’
He said that with the introduction of this system, the workload at ticket counters and labs has been greatly reduced. Dr Shrestha said that this system will lead to less errors in the treatment of patients and the time of health workers will be more focused on treatment than paper work, which will help in policy planning and research.
A card with QR will be provided as soon as the patient arrives at the hospital. After the OPD is registered on the computer, the details have reached the computer of all the doctors. He said, “Which doctor examined how many patients and how much income was earned in a day can now be seen on the computer.” ’
The World Health Organization (WHO) had provided equipment worth Rs 3,327,793 after the initial survey. Accordingly, the system was tested on May 15. He said, “There were some problems in the initial days, the problems seen in the introduction of this system are gradually improving with the technical team of the World Health Organization and the hospital team, our manpower is also gradually getting used to it.” ’
The government had decided to set up a national-level respiratory treatment centre named after former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala to establish it as the best respiratory treatment centre in South Asia. Accordingly, 740 ropanis of land has already been allotted in the name of treatment center at Belchautara of Shuklagandaki municipality.
People from Shuklagandaki Municipality, Bhimad Municipality, Myagde Rural Municipality, Rising Rural Municipality of Tanahun and some rural municipalities of Syangja, Palpa and Nawalparasi also come to the hospital.
Apart from those injured in road accidents, patients suffering from diarrhoea, typhoid, fever, gastric, stomach and orthopaedics are regularly visited at the 50-bed hospital. The treatment center has been adding various health facilities in the recent past. Dr Shrestha said that the facility has been expanded with the objective of providing all types of health services to the people in a smooth manner.
The hospital is providing orthopaedic and drug, general surgery and internal medicine services from specialist doctors. Apart from this, the hospital has also started culture service. The hospital is providing OPD services, round-the-clock emergency services, lab, video X-ray service and minor surgery. The hospital has also started respiratory treatment services.
