Kathmandu. Anil Rajbhandari has been elected as the president of Nepal Courier Service Association. The 31st Annual General Meeting of the Association has formed a 24-member executive committee under the chairmanship of Rajbhandari, including a 17-member executive committee and a seven-member state ex-officio committee.
Durga Prasad Subedi has been elected as the outgoing chairperson of the committee, Sanjay Mandal as senior vice president and Raj Kumar Samari and Tilraj Khatiwada as vice-president respectively. Similarly, Krishna Prasad Nepal has been elected as general secretary, Kiran Thapa as deputy general secretary, Prakash Subedi as treasurer, Laxman Ghimire as secretary and Meena Acharya as joint treasurer.
The central members are Meena Acharya, Saurabh Mainali, Randeep Jung Rayamajhi, Tanka Mani Kharel, Khot Raj Subedi (Madhav), Rabindra Karki, Nisha Acharya and Prakash Raut respectively.
The ex-officio members of the central working committee are Kripa Narayan Chaudhary (Koshi Province), Bharat Prasad Adhikari (Madhes Province), Arpan Babu Subedi (Bagmati Province), Ram Chandra Poudel ‘Ramu’ (Gandaki Province), Shridhar Pokharel (Lumbini Province), Krishna Prasad Adhikari (Karnali Province) and Anil Chaudhary (Far Western Province).
Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari, who was the chief guest at the programme, said the government would work on a policy basis to solve the problems seen in the operation of courier services.
He said, “The government should give, the ministry should give, especially now it is moving ahead from the burden of practice. The commerce sector is more advanced than the domestic market, and once your international market becomes more advanced, regulate it, make your service attractive.
There may be a lot of theft, somewhere there may be illegal infiltration. I will invite the ministry at an appropriate time and discuss how to resolve it. ’
He said that the development of today’s digital platform has been successful in connecting Nepalis all over the world even though the postal service has been displaced. “After the development of today’s digital platform, the development of the digital system in a new way, especially the way the postal service was, the old things were displaced,” he said.
While in today’s workplace with its motherland, it has some attachment, professionalism or currency or family relationship in various ways. Therefore, the issue of service delivery and professionalism that connected it further increased. ’
On the occasion, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Senior Vice President Anjan Shrestha said the importance and role of courier service was evident from its contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that the land played by the courier to ease the transportation and ease of essential goods during the Corona havoc is an important and tolerable work in the courier sector.
Shrestha said, “The service provided by the courier entrepreneurs during the Corona havoc was commendable. Speaking on the occasion, Vice President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Deepak Shrestha said that courier business should be kept in the business under industry and commerce as it has been established as an integral business of entrepreneurs.
He said the chamber would extend full support to solve the problems and challenges in the courier sector. President of Confederation of Nepalese Industries Birendra Raj Pandey, Vice President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Hemraj Dhakal and Federal Parliament Member Ramhari Khatiwada, among others, expressed their views on the problems and challenges in the courier sector.
