Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The government has decided to make arrangements for easy and easy supply of quality consumer goods during the festive season. The 71st meeting of the Central Monitoring and Evaluation Committee held at Singha Durbar on Sunday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal decided to make effective management of public transport, undoing operation of disaster-affected highways, control of seasonal diseases like dengue, cholera and lumpy skin.

The meeting has decided to make proper arrangements for the delivery of services to the citizens from all levels of government bodies so that the presence of the state is felt directly by the people and the immediate results can be seen.

In the meeting, Chief Secretary Aryal directed all the officials concerned to work seriously to make market monitoring and transportation operation easier so that the presence of the state is visible.

The meeting also decided that the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies through The Food Management and Trade Company Limited and Salt Trading Corporation Limited will operate shops in the Kathmandu Valley and outside the Valley to provide consumer goods at affordable prices.

The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has decided to arrange a toll-free number for collecting public grievances and address the complaints received immediately.

The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control will effectively collect samples of food items including dairy products, vegetables, fruits, meat and make necessary regulations to maintain food hygiene and quality by banning adulteration of non-food items in food items and sale and distribution of substandard food items.

The meeting decided that the Ministry of Home Affairs would monitor the market through all district administration offices and make it more active to ensure smooth supply of goods and services and to control the use, sale, distribution and black marketing of non-food items.

The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Home Affairs will arrange long-distance route permit of public transport targeting the festivals through the Chief District Officer and Nepal Police to make the journey of the common people safe and systematic.

The Department of Roads has decided to make necessary arrangements to manage the disaster risk related to road accidents and road networks and to bring various obstructed national highways and main roads back into operation by September 15.

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has decided to make necessary regulations and facilitation to prevent the increase in the fares of unnatural air travel in order to increase the operating time of the airport and increase the number of flights. The Department of Revenue Investigation has decided to intensify monitoring and surveillance to strictly control illegal transactions in the form of revenue fraud through informal transactions of goods and services.

It has also been decided to submit the progress of implementation of the decisions of the meeting to the Secretary looking after the development management area of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on a fortnightly basis.
