Lalitpur. As many as 206 of the prisoners who escaped from Lalitpur-based Nakkhu prison on September 10 during the movement of the ‘Genji Generation’ have returned to prison.
A total of 206 inmates including Rastriya Swatantra Party (RPP) President Rabi Lamichhane have surrendered so far, according to the Nakkhu prison administration. They came in contact after the prison administration made a public appeal to all the absconding inmates to be present and fully comply with the existing legal process and procedures.
Information Officer at the Nakkhu jail, Murari Karki, said that out of 1,281 inmates and inmates in three blocks, 206 have returned home so far and some have come into contact. The prison administration has appealed to all the absconding people to surrender immediately and cooperate to maintain public peace and order, respecting the law and social responsibility.
Warning of action against the inmates who have not come into contact with them as per the Prison Act, 2079 BS and other prevailing laws, the ministry has pledged to provide necessary facilitation in the rehabilitation process by protecting the rights and interests of the detainees coming into contact with the prisoners.
